When the house has started getting away from someone
The state of a home is often the first sign that help is needed. Laundry piling up, a fridge that needs clearing, stairs that are no longer safe to carry a basket up.
Domestic support keeps the house running so the person living in it can stay comfortable and safe. It is practical, unfussy help, and it is often the easiest thing for someone to accept when they are not ready to talk about care.
It is not the same as hiring a cleaner. Our carers are trained, DBS checked, insured and supervised, and while they are in the home they notice things. A fall risk on the stairs, post left unopened, food going untouched. If something has changed, you will hear about it.
What domestic support includes
Your visits are built around what you actually want help with. Typically that covers:

What a typical weekly visit looks like
Your carer arrives at the agreed time and checks what matters most this week before starting. Some weeks it is the washing, some weeks the bathroom, and you decide.
They work through the agreed list, keeping you company while they do it if you want the company. Anything they are unsure about, they ask rather than assume, and anything precious stays exactly where you left it.
Before leaving they take the bins out, note what needs picking up next time, and mention anything that concerned them. If a light bulb has gone or a step feels loose, your family hears about it that day.

Common questions about home help
Is this the same as hiring a cleaner?
No. Our carers are DBS checked, trained, insured and supervised, and they report anything that concerns them. You are buying oversight as well as housework.
Do you bring your own cleaning products?
We normally use what you already have, since most people prefer their own. Tell us at the assessment if you would rather we brought supplies.
Is there a minimum number of hours?
We build visits around the tasks rather than a fixed minimum, and we will tell you honestly if the list needs more time than you have booked.
Do you do deep cleaning or gardening?
No, and neither does any regulated care provider. Say what you need when you call and we will point you towards someone who does.
Will it be the same person each week?
That is the aim, and it is scheduled deliberately. Holidays and sickness happen, and we tell you in advance when they do.
Can domestic support be added to care I already have?
Yes. It is often added to an existing package, and it can go into the same visit rather than a separate one.
