About complex care
Some people need more than help with washing, meals and medication. A long term condition, a neurological illness, a spinal injury or a hospital discharge with ongoing clinical needs can all mean care that has to be planned around health tasks as well as daily living. Complex care is how we support that at home. We do not promise a list of procedures on a website, because the honest answer is that every complex package is different: what we will do is assess the situation with you, agree the plan with the nurses and health professionals already involved, and make sure the small team supporting you is trained for the specific tasks in your plan before care begins.
What our complex care includes
Every care plan is different, and yours will be built at your free assessment. Typically it covers:
- A care plan built with the district nurses, specialist teams and clinicians already involved
- Carers given additional training for the specific tasks in your package
- Support with long term and neurological conditions
- Help managing the daily living side: personal care, meals, medication and routine
- Hospital discharge support when needs have changed
- A small, consistent team rather than a rota of strangers
- Regular reviews as needs change, with the family and professionals involved
- Clear escalation: who we call, and when, if something is not right

Care is offered, explained and agreed, never done to someone. How something is done matters as much as whether it gets done.

We support what someone can still do rather than taking it over. Doing less, at the right moments, is often better care.

We build a small regular team around each person instead of sending whoever is free, and introduce any new carer before they visit alone.

The care plan follows their routine, their preferences and their goals. It is written with them, not about them, and reviewed regularly.

Care notes stay in the home and we contact you when something changes. You should never have to chase us to find out how a visit went.

Every carer completes our induction and ongoing training, and holds an enhanced DBS check before they set foot in anyone's home.

Complex Care questions
What counts as complex care?
There is no fixed list. Broadly, it is care where clinical needs shape the package: long term conditions, neurological illness, injury, or ongoing treatment at home. Tell us the situation and we will say honestly whether it is something we can support.
Can your carers carry out clinical tasks?
Only where the task is in the agreed care plan, the carer has been trained and signed off for it, and the health professionals involved are part of the arrangement. We will not take on a task on an informal basis, because that is how people get hurt.
Do you work with the NHS and district nurses?
Yes. Complex packages are planned with the professionals already involved, not around them, and we keep them informed as things change.
How quickly can complex care start?
It depends on the training the package needs. We will give you a straight answer on timescales at the assessment rather than a promise we cannot keep.
